How do I know when to start my descent?
This is a common question for those who enjoy flight simulators, and that is why we built the flightTools descent rate calculator. This handy app can help you whether you use X-Plane, Microsoft Flight Simulator X, or any other simulator for that matter.
So how does it work?
As you may have discovered for yourself, it is often easier to get your plane off the ground, than it is to land it. One of the most common problems encountered by the novice pilot is knowing when to start your descent. Timing this wrong can often mean you will fly over your airport without even knowing, or crashing into the ground before you reach the runway. Luckily, flightTools is a descent calculator which can help solve this problem very quickly.
Simply set the slider at the top of the App to your "Current Altitude", and it will tell you how many miles out from your airport you should start to make your descent.
Will flightTools work on my iPhone?
If your iPhone, iPod or iPad has iOS 4.3 or above you will be able to run flightTools.
